History
This visionary imaging technology company evolved from research initially begun in 1990 at the University of Rochester Medical Center and School of Engineering. These early efforts were directed primarily toward the accurate and reproducible measurement of advanced image-based biomarkers such as hippocampus volume and cartilage thickness.
After 10 years of research, VirtualScopics was formed in December 2000. The Company is based in Rochester, New York and has become a leading provider of image-based biomarkers and innovative clinical trial imaging services for pharmaceutical development.
VirtualScopics pioneered the development of semi-automated, precise and reproducible methods to measure minute changes in anatomic structures and functional measurements of metabolic processes. The company has an extensive intellectual property portfolio of 12 patents and patents pending covering methods, systems, and biomarkers. These techniques are the foundation of the analysis tools used in clinical trials today.
To date VirtualScopics has worked on over 250 projects during which we have qualified and trained more than 2,500 imaging sites.
