VirtualScopics is a leader in image analysis system design for medical imaging. We have successfully leveraged our experience in the medical arena to provide solutions to the Department of Defense. We have over 50 years of combined experience designing and developing image analysis systems. In addition to our expertise in system development, our research staff has over 20 years of combined experience in the areas of hyperspectral image analysis, automatic target recognition, video processing, motion estimation and image and video compression.

Our mission is to utilize our expertise in the areas listed above to improve the utilization of information gained from imagery to increase the safety of our nation and our troops.

Rationale:

The experience and expertise within VirtualScopics can be applicable across many different industries. For example, the same technology used to detect multiple sclerosis lesions from a set of MRI scans can also be used to detect a tank in a hyperspectral image. Also, the expertise acquired designing a system to efficiently process medical images can be applied to the design of systems for efficiently processing other types of images.

HIVE/SWARM System:

VirtualScopics, in conjunction with the Naval Research Laboratory, has developed a workflow engine for processing surveillance and reconnaissance imagery. The system is ideal for research laboratories working in imaging research. It is designed to organize and automate processing tasks, while allowing researchers the best access to their results using searches, processing history tracking, and image viewing tools.
