Musculoskeletal

We have decades of combined experience in musculoskeletal image analysis. Our imaging scientists have developed a robust and efficient software toolkit for registration, fusion, and segmentation of MRI and CT images. This combination underlies our unique capabilities for isolating selected tissues and quantifying shape, surface characteristics, and contact areas for cartilage and bone. We have provided support for clinical trials in musculoskeletal drug development, device development, disease progression, animal model development, and biomarker performance.

Here is a sample of the biomarkers we measure in Rheumatoid Arthritis:

  • Total Enhancing Tissue, a highly reproducible quantitative biomarker correlated to the RA inflammatory process
  • Enhancing Synovium, an inflammation biomarker from MRI
  • Erosions, provide more accurate and reproducible correlation to x-ray erosions
  • Bone Marrow Edema (BME), the bone marker for RA activity

Here is a sample of the biomarkers we measure in Osteoarthritis:

  • Cartilage Morphology, a biomarker for DMOAD efficacy
  • Bone Morphology, a biomarker for early OA progression
  • BME, Fluid, Correlated to clinical endpoints (pain and stiffness)
  • Tissue Quality (T2, dGEMRIC), have potential uses as early markers of DMOAD activity

Here is a sample of the biomarkers we measure in Muscle Wasting diseases:

  • Muscle Volume (mm3) for thigh
  • Intramuscular fat Volume (mm3) for thigh
  • Subcutaneous fat Volume (mm3) for thigh
  • Muscle Volume (mm3) for calf
  • Intramuscular fat Volume (mm3) for calf
  • Subcutaneous fat Volume (mm3) for calf
